Slave of Desire.
Ben mbuyuluThis artwork explores the human being as a prisoner of desire. Desire can appear beautiful, seductive, and irresistible, yet behind its attraction lies a silent struggle between freedom and dependence. The veil becomes a symbol of what we choose to hide from ourselves and from others. It reveals the vulnerability of a person who gradually loses control while pursuing what they desire. Through the figure, the shadows, and the atmosphere, the work questions the boundaries between pleasure, temptation, obsession, and freedom. It invites the viewer to reflect on a profound question: Are we truly free when our desires begin to control us?
